Article 25 speaks of the abolishing of the ceremonial laws. These laws treat of four things: holy persons, holy places, holy things, and holy seasons. These are typical: pointing to the work of Christ-and cease at His coming. The Roman Catholic church places considerable emphasis still on their priests, altars, vestments, holy days, etc.
What remains of these laws is the “truth and substance in Christ Jesus”. We study these laws to see how they point to Christ and reveal the gospel to us.
Article 26 speaks of Christ’s intercession. Christ appears before the Father on our behalf. He asks the Father, on the basis of His perfect work, to bless and preserve us. And we must come through Christ to the Father.
Christ is the sufficient Intercessor. We need no saint in heaven to add to His prayers for us. We are to make use of Christ, our Intercessor only in prayer.
